Use SD to sync Desktop and Macbook Pro?
I'm about to buy a new Macbook Pro, but I plan on keeping and using my 2008 Mac Pro as well and I'd imagine that syncing the 2 machines might be a good idea so I can work on either machine whenever I want. Anyone doing something similar with SD or is there a better app to handle this kind of thing, or is this just a bad idea?

I don't think this is a terribly good idea. In general, you shouldn't sync an entire Mac. Instead, use Dropbox, Onedrive, Google Drive or Transporter to share a folder or set of folders and keep them synchronized. And back up carefully, because sync, even when done well, can produce unexpected results that will make you sad.
