Failed to enable ownership
I know there are several old posts about this, but none have helped fix the issue on my end. In the past most SD issues have been relatively easy to solve, but this one is persistent.
I tried many times last night to backup to an external WD Passprt drive that I've used a long time for backups. Kept getting the ownership warning for both bootable partitions. I ran DiskUtility and DiskWarrior (including permissions repair), then rebooted. I also deleted volinfo.database on both partitions. Finally gave up and used CarbonCopyCloner, and it completed the job without a hitch. | 09:03:28 AM | Info | SuperDuper!, 2.9.1 (98), path: /Applications/SuperDuper!.app, Mac OS 10.12.6 build 16G29 (i386) | 09:03:28 AM | Info | Started on Wed, Aug 16, 2017 at 9:03 AM | 09:03:28 AM | Info | Source Volume: Mini Primary, mount: /, device: /dev/disk0s2, media: Untitled, interconnect: Internal SATA, file system: "Journaled HFS+", OS: 10.12.6 (16G29), capacity: 378.95 GB, used: 308.62 GB, directories: 180172, files: 856818, ejectable: NO, ACLs: Enabled | 09:03:28 AM | Info | Target Volume: WD500 1 Primary, mount: /Volumes/WD500 1 Primary, device: /dev/disk1s4, media: WD500 1 Startup, interconnect: External USB, file system: "Journaled HFS+", OS: 10.12.6 (16G29), capacity: 469.11 GB, used: 306.65 GB, directories: 178858, files: 807950, ejectable: YES, ACLs: Enabled | 09:03:28 AM | Info | Copy Mode : Smart Update | 09:03:28 AM | Info | Copy Script : Backup all files except .VolumeIcons and .neofinder... hidden files.dset | 09:03:28 AM | Info | Transcript : BuildTranscript.plist | 09:03:29 AM | Info | PHASE: 1. Please use Finder's Go To Folder command, in the Go menu, to open
/var/db Once there, delete volinfo.database, then try the copy again.

Thanks, but I said I already did that.

Sorry, I missed that - if you did that it should certainly work since this message explicitly deals with that... send me the log with the "Send to shirt pocket" button so I can see more details.

Already posted the log.
The only additional information added when I hit the Send button is this: Error | LOGGED EXCEPTION: NSAccessibilityException, reason: "AXSubrole" attribute unsupported by: <NSTextFieldCell: 0x7a631330>, userInfo: { NSAccessibilityErrorCodeExceptionInfo = "-25205"; } Error | LOGGED EXCEPTION: NSAccessibilityException, reason: "AXDocument" attribute unsupported by: <NSWindow: 0x7b1f2280>, userInfo: { NSAccessibilityErrorCodeExceptionInfo = "-25205"; } Error | LOGGED EXCEPTION: NSAccessibilityException, reason: "AXSubrole" attribute unsupported by: <NSWindow: 0x7b1f2280>, userInfo: { NSAccessibilityErrorCodeExceptionInfo = "-25205"; Last edited by Rebel; 08-16-2017 at 01:30 PM. |

Yes, I know you posted a partial log here, but I would like you to send it with the "Send to shirt pocket" Button. Unless you've done that: if so, I don't know your name, and don't know what you sent it from, but I've replied to all emails that are there as of sending this.
Those exceptions are from VoiceOver. Nothing to do with the copy.

this fixed my issue ... thanks
Hey instead of displaying please restart your Macintosh which doesn't help how about deleting the file or telling the user how to delete the file ! just a suggestion ! Last edited by HackDaBox; 08-19-2017 at 12:30 AM. |

The message is referring to a case where the file would be fixed on a restart; this changed relatively recently, and we'll have an update that automatically fixes the problem (no message necessary) when detected.
