New Unibody Macbook Won't Boot Clone
I need help. I have successfully cloned my HD on my old macbook and have been booting from it for the past two weeks.
Today I went and bought the new unibody macbook and I can't get the clone to boot at all. The macbook reboots but will only boot from the hd in the computer not the external. I was going to be cloning the external to the new macbook but I can't figure out what is going wrong. Can you let me know what I am doing wrong??? Last edited by ntarantino; 12-05-2008 at 06:13 PM. There are a number of threads on the forum dealing with this. Your old OS is not compatible with the new Macbook. You need to migrate from the backup during your first startup, when it prompts to "Copy from another Mac".

Do you mind pointing me in the right direction to some of these threads?
I appreciate it. |

I summarized the advice above; feel free to use the search function of the forum if you'd like to find the other threads.

I found this very thing out this weekend.
When I used migration assistant, my password to login into my account wouldn't work. I just said screw it and reinstalled Leopard with the DVD's that came with it and loaded everything from scratch. I can do that because I travel light on my portables. |
