SuperDuper is hanging - please help!
I'm in the middle of a Smart Update backup to an external FW disk. Things were going smoothly as usual, but the progress bar has now stopped, well, making progress just near the end of the back-up.
Is it safe to simply click "stop", and then start the Smart Update again? Or will this screw up the destination drive? It's supposed to be a bootable clone of my system. Thanks. |

It's likely copying a large file, badlydrawnboy. If you drop me a note at support, I'll provide you with a command that can tell what it's copying right now...

It had been "frozen" for three hours (I was out, and I came back). I stopped it and then ran Smart Update again. It went right through and seemed to work fine. But is it fine? Is it possible to stop a backup part way through, and then re-do it as I did without problems? Or should I erase the FW disk and do a fresh back-up?

Should be fine...

Same problem here
I am having the same problem--SuperDuper hangs towards the end of copying files during a Smart Update. I have tried stopping and restarting the update several times, but it always hangs and never finishes. SuperDuper hung for about 4 hours overnight so I don't think the problem is a large file being copied. ???

Please drop me a note, too, Elrock. It's either a large file or an open file that's being actively updated. (Of course, it could be drive damage as well.)

I am going to throw my name in this as well. I just picked up a new HDD because my 300 GB backup drive was 4 GB from being full. I got a Lacie 500 GB, and it is killing me because it never sleeps, anyway, at about 75% through it just hangs on a file.
Any advice on what to check to correct this? Thanks!! |

Drop a note to support, please. As it has been for all the other users, it's likely copying a large file...
