Question Best way to maintain performance with SSD drive?

Hi,

I've been a happy SD user for a number of years, and backup my primary to a secondary disk automatically each night. With a new MBP on order, I have also ordered a new Corsair Force SSD that I'm going to put into the MBP.

My question is whether there are any good recommendations on how to maintain the high performance the SSD's start out with, since OSX doesn't support the TRIM function used to optimize Windows 7 SSD's periodically.

I was thinking that I backup the internal SSD each night to an external traditional drive, so I have my normal backup. Does it make sense every month or so to wipe the SSD by repartitioning / reformatting then restoring from the external disk back onto the SSD? Since the write cycles on the SSD's allow for > 1,000,000 writes to a single cell, I don't think this approach will cause any problems and it should result in a nicely defragmented SSD each time.

Any thoughts from the experts here?
