Hello. I've been using SuperDuper for years - phenomenal program!

I am running SD 2.5 and have several scheduled copies for various drives (some data only, some with OS). I just upgraded my main drive OS from 10.4.11 to 10.5.3 (upgrade, not archive/install) and note that the scheduled backup times are now blank. Did the upgrade somehow wipe the crontabs?

It's no problem to reschedule the tasks, but just curious as to what happened and if this is normal. I imagine that once I am confident that the Leopard installation is acceptable, I should probably do a erase-then-copy first, and then switch to the smart updates.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Stu

They shouldn't have vanished, no, but for some reason your 'crontab' (the system scheduler's data file) must have been deleted. Turning them on again should be easy enough.

OK. No problem. I can just reactivate them. I wonder if I lost any other crontabs (e.g., system) ones...

I thought I remember Apple using launchd, though, nowadays, so hopefully it won't be an issue.

Now that I think about it, how come you don't use launchd (instead of crontab) for the scheduled SuperDuper backup tasks?

Thanks,
Stu

Because launchd wasn't available in every OS version we support.
